A BUSY school holiday period in December capped off another successful year for Jerudong Park Playground.

With around 250,000 guests visiting Jerudong Park Playground in total for 2016, Jerudong Park has succeeded in retaining its visitors numbers from prior years.

Relaunched in 2014, Jerudong Park is now on its way to crossing 700,000 total guests since reopening its doors to the public. With a steady stream of guests incoming year-on-year, Jerudong Park Playground is on course to reach 1,000,000 guests in 2017, according to a press release.

The month of December alone saw Jerudong Park recording over 55,000 visitors to the playground, as families opted to visit the park rather than going overseas during the December school holidays.

Averaging over 5,000 visitors per week for the year, the park has also boosted business for the nearby food court area as well as the Jerudong area.

With the reopening of the international standard F1 & F2 Supakarts, and the Musical Water Fountain at the Jerudong Park Garden the list of attractions continues to grow at Brunei’s most visited tourist destination.

Due to the overwhelming response since relaunching and the continued support of the public, Jerudong Park’s management will continue its efforts in improving its products and services in the new year.

Aside from being Brunei’s largest outdoor family entertainment centre and amusement park, Jerudong Park has played host to a multitude of events that has attracted large crowds to the area throughout the year.

One of the highlights last year was the spectacular display of fireworks in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 70th birthday celebrations.

Jerudong Park has become the ideal destination to showcase local entrepreneurs and hosted the biggest companies and brands in Brunei.

From displaying sleek modern cars to lively performances bringing culture from around the world, the events include The BiG 10th Anniversary Picnic Festival, Cars and Coffee Week, DST Carnival, The Green Festival by Baiduri Bank, Francophonie Week, Korean Culture Week at the JP Amphitheatre and more!

Local movie star Wu Chun drew in an international audience to the park hosted by Royal Brunei Airlines, while another celebrity from space – Ultraman, drew in a younger audience with the Ultraman Live In Brunei 2016, the first of its kind in the Sultanate.

Another first was, Icetravaganza, the country’s first synthetic ice skating rink measuring 20-metres by 10-metres.

The playground is proud to play host to live local music with visitors able to sit, relax and enjoy live performances on the JP Colonnade.

Last year visitors were entertained by ‘A Band Once’ and The Hundred Beats Festival that featured more than 30 local drummers and percussionists.

Jerudong Park also provided a platform for upcoming local performers through its own events, Million Bubblez and JP Colonnade Music Festival 2016.

Not forgetting the need to stay healthy, the park held the Batman vs Superman Run 2016, Let’s Walk/Run Ladies 2016 in conjunction with International Women’s Day, the Sparkling Night Run and the The Plus+ Anniversary Charity Run held in conjunction with World Heart Day.

The year drew to a close with Escape JP: Diamond Heist Mystery with over 800 participants in another first of its kind event.

This event highlighted the nation’s growing confidence in holding new events at the park and the growing ambition of Jerudong Park to be Brunei’s premier entertainment destination.
