THE Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) recently organised a showcase of local talents with their MKM Gigs 2017 event, all for the cause of charity, at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre.

Performing at the event were Browne, KaMaLoko Entertainment Group, Rafiz Majid, Zailia Dancers, and Fakhrul Razi. The event was organised as a platform for these artistes to put on a show for their fans as well as contribute to a good cause.

A charity bazaar with local vendors selling various items such as food, handicrafts and clothing was also set up by MKM in support of local entrepreneurs.

The proceeds from the charity event will go to initiatives of MKM in improving the welfare of vulnerable groups in Brunei Darussalam, building tube wells in villages in Bangladesh and helping them in building wells, and supply provisions for the Rohingyan refugees.

MKM is a non-government organisation which conducts activities to support the welfare and charitable programmes initiated by the Brunei Government of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

MKM was registered under the Registrar of Societies on December 2, 2009. The first annual general meeting was held on March 12, 2010.
